Any interest in having the Fun in the Sun an STRA event? Its a win win, STRA gets a no brainer event complete, FTA members get work credits and will go to more STRA events. Comments? New FTA president T.Cone.

Hi Tim Cone - New FTA President Wink
If someone makes a proposal at the business meeting, we will discuss and vote on it - but the proposal got very little support last time. and the result was that most in attendance felt that it was too far away.

We wish all of our Florida friends a very happy holiday season and hope to see you all again soon.

I will be making the proposal at the business meeting. I would like to have as much input as possible before. I also see it as a win win for the STRA. It looks like we have more FL riders thru the entire STRA season when we include the FNS event as one of ours. Remember, no National this year. I know its a long way for a lot of our members, but it pays off in the long run.

If my info is correct we had 50 FTA rider participants in STRA in 09 when Fun in Sun was an STRA event as opposed to 19 sign ups in 2010 and 22 sign ups in 2011. If we can get work credits we are going to go to more events. Its good for both sanctions.

I second the proposal to make the Fun in The Sun an STRA round. Even if you don't go to the event, supporting it will increase STRA membership and event participation.

In Ocala, usually around the 1st week of March. In years past there was a large support of this event from STRA members and others from the cooler North country as it was the first trials of the year for many riders. One year we had Ryan Young, Chris Florin, Adam Holbrook,David Chaves, Brian Capper, Ray Peters,
dan Johnson and Travis Fox,all on a Champ line, there was a couple others that I can't recall.

that is 8 hours and 16 minutes from my house. Pretty long drive but not necessarily out of the question. Would have to see what I had going on at that time for sure.
thanks for the info Barry

I have been wanting to go to Fun in the Sun for years. The problem is Track Rock is also in March. I can do one or the other, Track Rock is 90 miles Fun in the Sun is all most 400. Earning STRA points adds an incentive, anyone interested in traveling together?

Hey Jim, too bad you are so east of Atlanta, I could pick you up on the way down. I've missed it the last 2 years but was a regular before the economy dumped. Thinking of going again this year. It's usually at Hardrock Cycle Park, It's a motocross area that opens up for trials. It's where most of the FTA events are held. Hey it's new terrain you have never riden on and you'll learn how to turn in sand. Lot's of great people down there that put it on. You ought to do it at least once. Mark.

Hey Prez Tim, just looking at the FTA website, seems you have a new rule, a signed and notarized waiver. Are you going to have a notary at sign up for those that turn up without one? Mark.

The notorized waiver is only for our regular championship events, the Fun In The Sun is an AMA sanctioned event so no special requirements. Mark I'll have to see if we have any sand at hardrock! Looking forward to seeing everyone.
