Well the most asked question so far has been about large vehicle camping. So I just have to tell you how wonderful all the sections are. Wow are we going to have fun!! We have 8 sections for each day and everyone will get to ride down by the creek. We have improved access to the sections by the water (or in the water in some cases) and all classes will have a few sections near Whooping Creek. The steepest portion of the loop is down hill so you will end up at the bottom one way or another (just kidding). I can Climb the downhill easily with a 125 MX bike so as Trials Riders we should be good going down. We have a long gradual climb up from the water that is open and very visible from the bottom so all should be comfortable. We used this same route at the Vintage event last April and it was pretty wet on Sunday and “A good time was had by all”.
Oh ya camping. I have talked to my neighbors, Dennis and Kay and they are welcoming us to Camp / Park along their driveway. This is the same place we parked a couple of years ago, on the hottest weekend on record in Georgia. Some of you may remember. The plan is still to Camp or Park as many as possible along our driveway but we will now be able to use the neighbors for larger vehicle camping and overflow parking. They have not asked for anything, but I would like to give them $20 per vehicle for the weekend for Camping or Parking. You are welcome to park “in the grass” if you like but I do believe we will have ample parking along our drive if we are cooperative with being close to one another. If we end up requiring people to park next door I will pay the $20 from the vast amount of profit that all promoters will confirm comes gushing in after expenses. I know that even lower priced competition is getting expensive, but friendly neighbors allowing crazy dirt bikers to camp in their yard are neighbors I would like to keep happy. Sign up, the loop start and end, the riders meeting, and awards presentation will all be near our house at the opposite end of the 1/3 mile long driveway that you come in on so parking along the drive will get you closest to all the action. The youth sections will also be near our house as well as the YMMC rocks, RR tie wall, Drywater Creek II, and the concrete round thing that I broke my finger riding off (well actually the bike stopped and I kept going). For vehicles pulling trailers I would recommend turning around when you get here and then park pointing out. If you come in the drive until you see the house you can turn around before you pull down the hill by the “bike shed”. There is a small road leading to our well on the right just before you start down hill. I turn right into the “well road” and pull up until the camper attached to the back of the van is straight. Then I back out into the driveway with my camper down hill toward the house. Then I pull out faced back out the drive. If I can do it you can too. That’s all for now. I hope everyone can come and “Enjoy the Mountains of Carroll County Georgia” with us. Please call or e-mail with any questions or details. Thanks, Frank |

I don’t really have a bunch of new information to add to the last post but just a little that may make finding us a little easier.
I would like to clarify directions to the trials site. It is best to follow alt 27 / 16 all the way to Happy Hill Road like it says on the flyer, from either direction. Coming from the East from Newnan, go straight through Whitesburg (do not turn on highway 5 at the roundabout). Continue about 5 miles, just past mile marker 21. Take a left on Happy Hill Road and follow the STRA arrows for a few miles, then take a right on Shoemake Road, which is gravel. Your GPS will try to make you turn a few times in Whitesburg and after, but just keep going to Happy Hill Road. A small information sign just before you turn off Alt 27 / 16 clearly says Happy Hill Road to the left Coming from the West from Carrollton, follow Alt 27 / 16 for about 5 miles and take a right on Happy Hill Road just before you get to mile marker 21 (so almost a mile past mile marker 20). Take a right on Happy Hill Road and follow the STRA arrows for a few miles, then take a right on Shoemake Road, which is gravel. A small information sign just before you turn off Alt 27 / 16 clearly says Happy Hill Road to the right. If you use mapquest or a GPS you will not come here on the best route. Coming from Newnan through Whitesburg both will send you south on highway 5 (or worse), which is the most direct route, but you will have to travel on a narrow gravel road for quite a few miles. Coming from Carrollton, they have paved the gravel road recently, on the most direct route, but you will have to make numerous turns that are unnecessary. Our address is 884 Shoemake Road, Carrollton, GA 30116 and we have substantial parking along our driveway, with a good place to turn around trailers down near our house. Big Rig Camping is at 848 Shoemake Road along our neighbor’s driveway and I would like to give them $20 per vehicle. I am looking forward to having everyone over. Hope you can make it.
