Rick Welton was involved in a single vehicle motorcycle crash in Hiram on 06/19/2010. He was rushed to Grady Memorial where it was discovered that he has the following injuries:
broken neck
broken back
broken collar bone
several broken ribs
broken leg
front teeth broken out

He is still in the intensive care area, but he is sitting up and talking now. As of 06/23/10, he was in room 6B49, but that is likely to change. His phone was destroyed in the crash, so you cannot contact him or family members via that method. His daughter Lauri, and friend Kay, are taking care of his personal matters at the moment. The crash is attributed to his diabetic condition. Rick stated that his blood sugar level was higher than it should have been which led him to be drowsy or unconscious.

His recovery period is unknown at this time; however, he stated that it is his goal to be present for the Cornelius event, if only as a checker or spectator.

His motorcycle is obviously destroyed and it was found in two pieces.
