Hi all, Still in Scotland until Tuesday am then back to England then home. My wife and I have been having a great time here, lots of new things to try and interesting people to meet. On friday and saturday I rode in the Pre 65 event on a BSA B40 350. The day started out sunny and warm, then changed to rain and higher up it turned to hail! Talk about 4 seasons in one day! So after 2 days of riding 42 miles about 60 sections(sections severity were hard sportsman, easy advanced) I finished with a score of 34 for 42 place out of 180 riders and a first class award. The trial was won by Tony Calvert on a 1! there are some fantastic riders over here. Sunday we went to Fort William for the start and parade for the 6 Days, only one American entered Jeff Salios. Later on we hiked up Glen Nevis and crossed a wire cable bridge. Lots more to say but got to get going, we are watching one section of the 6 Days today, got to get a good spot. Mark.

Hi All, In a nutshell I think it was the best vacation I've ever had, even with the wait times at the airport, time changes, jet lag etc. To spend it with my Wife made it even more special. The organizers of this event are tremendous, with all the logistics for 2 day's, everything ran like clockwork. The bike I rode was different from the one I've ridden previously, it was my friend Bob Bakers shiny and very trick BSA B40, well fettled as they would say across the pond. Bob was out with an Achilles tendon injury so he offered the bike to me, the bike was perfect both days, but about the only time I had on it was on the way to the first section! All the sections that we rode were sections used previously in the 6 days, up until the modern era, sections like Mamore, Pipeline, Sleubhaich and Camas Na Muic to name a few. Most of these sections had up to 4 subsections, some are ridden continously, some not, plus you have to ride on the road too, the wrong side I might add. So the bike has to be semi street legal, inspected(MOT) taxed and insured. The people over there are great, very welcoming, very social, even to a yank. So riding this event is like flipping the pages of all the motorcyle magazines I've read for the past 40 years, and the scenery from the places you only get to on a bike is fantastic. Since we had great weather for the most part it made it even better. Monday, the first day of the 6 days, we spectated at Gray Mares Tail and then went to Kentallen to see the sections at Lagnaha. I once thought that I might try to ride the 6 days but after seeing the sections and seeing some of the riders at the end of the day I'm not so sure now, I think I'll stick to the 2 day event. There is so much more to say about this adventure, so feel free to ask me about it. Mark. P.S. I saw Dougie and Martin Lampkin and another guy at the same gate we were at, they seemed suprised to be recognized at a US airport, they sat about 5 rows up from us, in coach!

Thanks for the great report Mark.
My favorite part of the recount is about the Missus being along with you. I praise God for that part! Hope to see you soon. ...I Corinthians 1:18 NKJV |
