Being relatively new to trials. Can I get some help on tire pressure reccomendations?
A range would be good.

Thanks in advance

Hi Keith
Normally several would have given advise by now for your question. As for my opinion, tire pressure depends on several variables; tubed tire or tubeless, rocky terain or rockless? Generally you get better traction with a lower pressure, but the lower the pressure the more chance for a puncture. As a starting point, I'd start @ 5psi for a tubeless. Up for rocks ~2psi maybe, lower for rockless ~1psi. But, thats just my opinion. Good luck!

I will add to Harry's that a lot depends on your weight and riding style.

If you are built like Harry, Yup, down there in the low ranges is fine. Matter of fact we ran my son's tire intentionally Flat at the YN.

However, if you are sized a little more like me, should we say, an original contestant in the Fat Boy Freestyle contest, (over 250) then a little more air is in order to keep from pinging rims / tires etc.

I run about 5-7 again, as Harry said, mud, rocks, sand????

I'm (a lot) closer to Alan's build than Harry's and fairly particular about tire pressure.
My typical rear pressure is 4.5 and front 6.0 lbs. I'll go 4.25 rear pressure in the wet and 5.0 if all dry, rough rocks. Front I'll go 5.5 in deep sand or mud and 6.5 in high traction situations - more to fight sidewall flex than flats. I'd suggest moving by no more than 1/2 lb. increments until you find the feel you like. There are really no areas I can think of in the south (sharp, jagged rocks) that you need to go up much in pressure to fight flats.
