radial tires on a vintage bike

Can modern radial trials tires be put on a vintage 70's trial bike with standard rims? Can a tubeless radial be run with a tube in it? I've read conflicting opinions across the web.

You can even use a tubeless radial with no tube using the Tubliss system.
