I seem to remember the third weekend in January, coming to mind. I think John mentioned that this weekend. They were throwing that idea around. Maybe we should do a poll?

The plan as of now is to hold the Business Meeting and the Awards Banquet in Cartersville, Ga. To be followed by a Fun Trial at the Geisen's property the next day. Jeff is currently checking with the Hotel for availability for the weekend of January 20-21, 2007. Once we get the thumbs up from Jeff we will post more info.

I don't want to mis-lead anyone about the ride following the proposed banquet/business meeting here in Cartersville on Sunday January 21st 07. Due to time constraints, most likely the event will be a fun ride as opposed to a fun trial. We have a small terrain park on my property now, and have not been up to Ian's property too often lately. We will have to spend a day or two up there blowing leaves off of the sections, and don't think we will have time to lay in splits and ribbon. If some of the local riders can help, it might be possibe to have sections, but we can't do it on our own. I want to mention also that parking will be limited at the property, and we discourage camping up there. If you will be heading here in your camping rigs (Davis's, Frank Schoenbeck, the Thistles, Rooster are some that come to mind) contact me about camping on my property just minutes from the proposed banquet/biz meeting location.

... if all this year-end biz meeting/banquet happens here in Cartersville, Ian and I have made a decision regarding the fun ride Sunday...

The fun ride, due to progression of the adjoining development, and the fact that the streets have not yet been dedicated to the county (read private), and limited off street parking, will only be for the enjoyment of those who will be able to attend our annual business meeting.

Please read the thread in Announcements titled CARTERSVILLE VENUE CLOSED. Also, please be patient while I try to come up with an alternate place for us to gather and ride locally on Saturday before and Sunday after the business meeting and awards banquet...

There will be no Fun Ride on the Sunday after the meeting in Cartersville due to land access constraints.

Any suggestions?

John

In light of Ian's Cartersville riding area closing, is there any chance that we could change the venue to the Newnan site area? There are several hotels/motels there that could serve our needs.

Of course you guys know that TTC is available if you want to ride here. It is about 1.5 hrs from Cartersville (if you drive like me, i.e, bat out of hell).

In fact, I'll offer to organize a little informal "thank you STRA" training session with team TTC (Bruce & Alex) for those that are interested. And I'll lead the kiddie brigade on a merry follow-the-leader ride.

Of course as John F. suggests, Frank’s House is available too, the location of the hottest STRA event in recent years (Whooping Creek Trial 2005). The disadvantage to Carrollton is that we too are about two hours from Cartersville. Harry has a good idea in relocating the banquet / business meeting closer to the chosen “Fun Ride” site, but maybe it is getting pretty late to do that too. Too bad more active STRA folks are not active on the web site so we could have additional input. I am looking forward to riding with everyone at Newnan, TTC, here there or anywhere we go. If we go to TTC maybe Bruce or Alex can show me how not to “Splatter” the big rock in Sunday #7 and actually get to the top, but as someone said, I just want to ride.

I'm really open as to the venue; just need to know which location is finalized so hotel reservations can be made.

Dan,
Honda's slogan is "I wanna ride", Yamaha does one promoting their electric start TTR series that says, "I JUST wanna ride".
Just thought you would want to know. Remember the no cry-babie rule!

Whew, that was close, Thanks Paul!

Actually, to clarify this:
I was quoting Harry, who thought he was quoting a Honda ad, but was really quoting a Yamaha ad, but when I typed wanna, spell check underlined it, so I wrote want to.

Ya that’s it!! “I just wanna ride.”

So, all bike advertisements aside, is the meeting still 20 Jan at the Quality Inn in Cartersville?

Cartersville on the 20th is still the plan. We are open to suggestions though. It's just we are a bit short on time.

When we quit taking suggestions, let me know where we are going.

I think at some point, you (or the board) just need to make a call and go with it.

I guess I would like to see the Western Sizzler at exit 155 (TTC) and a ride at TTC the next day, but I am biased to the north.. Smile
