I am starting a draft of the 2008 STRA schedule. Please let me know if you are even considering an event and what date(s) you are interested in. I'm hoping we will get back to Newnan next year. I'm looking in to Hattisburg and some other spots we have not ridden for a while.
Several folks have expressed interest in mixing in some 1 day events along with the now typical 2 day traisl weekends. So if you don't want to commit to 2 events, there is plenty of room and interest in some 1 day events on the schedule.

the fta 2day is available to you if there is any interest, it comes as a turnkey package complete with checkers and its right off I-75 north of Ocala. It would probably promote more participation from fta riders in the stra series,

I do wish that Rock Crusher in the Haynesville, Ga. area was not a 2 hour drive for me. I do think it would make a good venu for an STRA event.

Tim:
The FTA 2Day will be an agenda topic at the annual STRA business/promoters meeting. (The tentative date is Jan. 12, 2008 in Cartersville.) I can tell you one area of concern is the level of severity and other event guidelines would have to match the STRA rulebook.

Harry:
What is Rock Crusher? I know Sam Curlee and Mike Helstrom were looking at an new spot in the Hayesville area that includes a campground on the premises. Can we sign you and the SC gang up for a 2008 round in Cornelia?

Brock - here is what I've found via the net. Aside from the fact that several STRA members (myself, Tony Lee & Brian Sloggy) have ridden hare scrambles there, its just an area in the mountains where there is a potential for an STRA event. Below is the contact info that I found on the net. I do hope someone can run with this info & make an STRA event happen. I do think there is enough stuff for a good STRA event. Unfortunately its too far for me to do much.

Rockcrusher - Todd Wood 828.389.87.25

From Hiawassee, GA take Hwy 76 west approximately 4 miles. Go north on Hwy 17 towards Haysville N.C. Immediately past N.C. state line turn left on McDonald Rd. Follow the signs to parking.

Cornelia? I'm always willing to help out but, the SC crowd is rather thin & spread out these days. Most everyone in SC is either east or south (2+ hr) of Cornelia making it all that much harder. I think there are more Georgia members that are closer that could help make it happen providing Henry is willing to have us back again this year.

I don't think we would be enough income for Todd. Sorcs has had several events there. 300 plus riders $10 a head to property owner. Although there is plenty of parking and property, with good elevation change.

The property Sam was looking at is in blairsville at Trackrock campground. A rocky creek and lots of hills and such. It would be an awesome place for an event! If we could use one of the back fields, it would be as sweet as Gadsden!

That sounds like some new possibilities. Do you know if there is enough space at Rock Crusher (great name for a trials venue!) to run along side a hare scrambles?
The Trackrock location sounds even better. Paul - can you and Sam have lunch sometime and discuss this some more (hint hint)? Maybe we can alternate Shooting Creek and Blairsville locations. I rode with Jeb Sunday and he said we can count on him to help out too.

There is easily enough room at the Rock Crusher.

Trackrock campground would be better in terms of facilities. But needs more thought to create section difficulty.

Sam and I have talked about it.
No progress yet (Fear of commitment).

Paul, if you and Sam can get a commitment for the site, I'll help you guys put it on and run it. The infrastructure IS there, but the upper levels of riders might find it somewhat less difficult than TTC. What if we had some man-made features thrown into the mix? Maybe a section or two IN the field itself? I can make those.

On a related note, we also have Clint looking at hosting another Log Jam in Hattisburg early in the season.

Brock,

Ron and I (and hopefully some more volunteers) would like to put on an event at the Clem / Whitesburg / Carrollton location in the fall. It is up for discussion what type we will host, maybe a 2-day Modern / 2 day Vintage combined? I was thinking the second or third week of August (JUST KIDDING) Red Face. Based on the season just past, between TTC fall trial and the Gadsden, Al event would be a good tentative time.

Thanks Frank!!! - I'll add that to the calendar. Come on folks - who else can either help or promote a 1 or 2 day event? A lot of folks would like to see Newnan and Cornelia on the schedule....

Sam and Paul: I'll help with an event in the Hayesville area if you can get the venue approved. I'm sure we can call on some of the north-of-Atlanta crowd to support that one as well.

Thanks Trent and Tom - that is some great news!!!! Now, we really need a Newnan event and John Godwin is trying to round up some help there - so please let John know if you are willing to sign on and let's get that on the calendar. We missed it in 2007, so I would hate to see us stay away another year.

Any takers for Cornelia? Chad? Art? Jamie?

Keep in mind we are happy to have a 1 day event if anyone does not want to tackle 2 days.

I may be out of line here but on Cornelia, please make sure Henry is OK for an event again before its committed to on the STRA schedule. If he is OK with it I'm more than willing to help (but not lead) with making this event happen.

if the fta fun in the sun is a consideration, i would see to it that the sections met the STRA criteria. It would promote a lot more interest and participation of florida riders at other STRA events. No checkers needed!

Harry: I would count on the promoter checking with Henry first, but if no one steps up to the plate for Cornelia, it is a moot point anyway. I'm hoping someone does - that is always a popular event.

Tim: Will anyone that can speak as the Fun-in-the-Sun promoter be at the STRA business meeting on Jan 12? There will be some questions and discussion on the event that would need to be addressed.

Also hoping hoping we find a Newnan promoter for 2008.
