Woke up to another 60 degree morning. It has been nice at night and cool enough for comfortable camping. We have had some rain and it gets quite humid as the sun burns off the heavy dew. The high has been in the low 80s. Rain chance for the weekend is down to 30%.

If you have never been to Shooting Creek, it sits close to the Appalachian Trail in the NC mountains between Hayesville and Franklin. The pits and camping area is a large hayfield next to trees and the main stream. Five section this weekend will be in the stream and all but 1 will be within a stones throw from the water.

Bring some old shoes or sandals for playing in the stream. There are a couple of deep spots, but nothing you can swim in. I have seen the occasional piece of broken glass in the stream, so we don't want any cut feet.

We will have the Nathan's Hot Dog stand set up and the loop is very spectator friendly.

Camping is free and campers are welcome to come early and stay late. There are many outdoor recreational opportunities in the area. In Blairsville, GA is Beasley Knob OHV park with some serious climbs. There are hiking trails, whitewater trips and endless twisties for road bikes. Dave Hulse will be there to tell you where his favorite roads are.

The sections have turned out great and the Pro riders we are expecting will have some BIG, hard challenges. Everyone else will have some FUN sections with a low fear factor. I'm shooting for lots of smiles and enough points to keep things interesting.

Head over to highway 64 10 miles east of Hayesville and look for the signs pointing to East Vineyard. "You can't miss it." And you don't want to miss this event!
