We had a great time at TNT. They are in the process of adding more sections for us. John, Gordon, Doug, Andrew and myself had alot of fun.

Fun day. I'm a little sore today-- need to ride more!

I like what they have so far, but maybe we need to lay something out for tight turns (maybe some cones or flags would suffice). And some logs of various (small to med) sizes put in the flat area. and like we discussed, some kicker steps of various sizes on one side of the concrete box, and perhaps a slope off the other side.

The "ant hill" thing is fun too. Good for off camber turning practice and hill climbs. It has a lot of traction it seems.

Oh, I have a nagging little problem on that Beta that I didn't talk about yesterday but might want to get resolved, maybe someone has advice. The clutch seems to need adjustment, perhaps new plates. Here's the problem:

a. when you pull in the lever it stops dead before the lever gets to the bar (about an inch or more away from the bar)

b. after it gets warmed up a good bit, the clutch doesn't want to disengage. I would have to hold the rear break down when balancing, etc to keep it from creeping forward.

I'm hoping that it just needs some new plates and to get the adjustment corrected, I guess under the cover there is a adjustment which can be made. I contacted TTC about getting Charlie's advice and some plates ordered. I haven't taken the cover off to look at it yet. Anyone know if there is anything special to changing plates? Harry?

p.s. Beta is 99 Techno 250 (or 98, not sure honestly)

Yeah, had a blast at TNT except for the mechanical difficulties.

I tore down my carb & cleaned it all out. I recalled that a stick wedged up into the carb (2 mos. ago) at the choke stalk, bending it. I'm going to replace that if I can order that part alone.

I'm going to order a new throttle cable & housing. I'll be ordering p/n 17910-NN3-000 ('02 Montesa) as per www.apexmotosports.com's schematic. Hope it works because the last 2 so-called "OEM" Monty cables did NOT work, thus, the cheesy set up I had to go with (as you all had the awesome opportunity to observe its "bike-pitch" technique & mega-revs). Not sure what's going on here but I recall the cable portion was either way too long or way too short (on the last 2 "OEM" cables).

John - I had lots of clutch grabbing & slipping probs. w/my Monty. Monty's, for a few years, had notoriously finicky clutches. First thing I did was go to ELF HTX gear oil and then I went in & changed around the cork & paper discs until it worked just right. Actually, CR250 discs fit/work perfectly in the Monty - don't know about the Beta. After consulting lots of people, no one could figure out or explain why or if the "order" of the plates was critical or essential. I don't recall but I do know that I went w/one extra paper disc (swapping out 1 of the corks). I really believe the combo. of the ELF oil & the paper disc sub. helped tremendously. This eliminated that nasty "grabiness" problem that sounds familiar w/your Beta.
